About

Hi, I’m Anna King Shahab. I’m

a writer based in Auckland, New Zealand. I don’t only write about food, but it’s the topic I’m most passionate about; the subject that sits steadily in my head like a loving, dependent and slightly neurotic cat in the lap. This is most certainly to do with the fact that I quite like eating.

I like cooking, so I’ll blog about what I’m doing in the kitchen – recipes, ideas, ingredients, techniques and more. I love eating out, so I’ll blog about where I’m eating and whether I think it’s worth you eating there, too. I enjoy shopping for food, so I’ll blog about places to find good food for sale. And when I get a spare minute in my day (which isn’t often, with two small children to care for) I love flicking through books about food, so I’ll blog about them, too.

I don’t have a lot of money floating around right now, so right now a lot of my cooking focuses on making the most of what’s in season, abundant and therefore well-priced, as well as making mealtimes much more interesting by stocking your pantry and fridge with interesting – but not necessarily expensive – ingredients.

If you like my blog, please subscribe and all my posts will be sent automatically to you by email. Look for my byline in such excellent magazines such as Taste (on which I’m the features editor), Metro and KiaOra, and come like me on facebook.

  1. Hi Anna. Many thanks for your wonderful blog. Having landed in Balmoral/Sandringham from London and ‘quite into our food’ we are up with the play so quickly thanks to your blog. cheers.

    1. Thanks GR! Always thrilled to hear someone out there is getting something useful from what I write. One of the many cool things about this neighbourhood is it’s ever-evolving, so keep an eye out on my blog for anything new and notable. In the meantime, happy dumpling/spice/Indie cinema time in your new hood! 🙂
